Artyom Casecnikovs
Fascinated by complex systems and mathematical applications, I'm Artyom Casecnikovs, from Latvia. I am currently enrolled at TU/e BSc Applied Mathematics in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Interests & approach
- I combine Warren Buffett-style investing with Nassim Taleb's approach to portfolio management, focused on identifying fundamentally strong companies in energy and tech that are well-positioned for long-term geopolitical and demand shifts.
- I see technical and biological human longevity as inspiring and theoretically possible — a field I plan to enter eventually.
- I actively filter my information space to save energy and concentrate on what is truly important to me.
- I try to reason from first principles and stay pragmatic, prioritizing what works in practice over received frameworks.
Currently
- Actively testing algorithmic trading strategies — e.g. systematic crypto trend-following and statistical arbitrage on prediction markets.
- Investing actively, informed by my own geopolitical analysis.
- Playing table tennis regularly.
- Working through Karpathy's Zero-to-Hero to build AI from first principles.
- Translating Constructions, configurations, regularities to English.
Previously
- Predictopoly (2026) — a probability calibration trainer scored against thousands of resolved prediction-market questions.
- Constructions, configurations, regularities (2026) — a personal philosophical essay (in russian).
- Chaos Game Application in Evaluating Hurst Exponent on BTC/USDT (2025) — IB Mathematics AA HL Extended Essay. Estimated the Hurst exponent of Bitcoin log-return series by applying chaos-game fractal visualizations; implemented in Python.
- Self-studied applied communication and mental health frameworks via Newel of Knowledge on YouTube (2025).
- Recurrent systems, or How to build a fractal (2024) — capstone thesis for an 8-year extracurricular science track at ABFS in Riga, covering 600 academic hours and 8 scientific summer camps.
- Modelling Forest Area in Latvia (2024) — IB Mathematics AA HL internal assessment applying differential models to national forestry data.
- Trading strategy experiments (2024) — nine months of strategy development and backtesting across PineScript (TradingView) and Python, including a multi-iteration UVXY volatility strategy with a full trade log and equity curve.
- Artificial Intelligence 101 (2023) — an introductory lecture I delivered to three separate groups; each participant built their own small AI system.
- FIDE-recognized chess tournament (2024) — organized and ran an official event under the International Chess Federation, following six years of vocational chess education at Rīgas Šaha skola (2014–2020).
- 3rd place nationwide, Latvian National Biology Olympiad (2024).
